Reflex test

Green circle: tap as fast as you can. Red circle: don't tap. Twenty circles; good reflexes mean both speed and brakes.

Tap the circle (or press Space) only when it is green.

The in-page test is short and not saved. In Arena the test has more trials, levels 1 to 10, history and a leaderboard.

What the test measures

The Go/No-Go test measures inhibition: how well you stop a movement already under way. It is one of the most used tasks in cognitive psychology.

In sport it is the difference between reacting to every move of your opponent and not falling for the feint. Speed without control means mistakes.

The result has two parts: your time on green and the number of wrong taps on red. Read them together.

How to improve your reflexes

  • Train the brakes, not just speed: tasks where you must hold back.
  • Rest and focus: fatigue raises mistakes before it raises your time.
  • Short, frequent sessions at the same difficulty until you pass 85 % correct.

Frequently asked questions

Is a reflex the same as reaction time?

Not quite. A true reflex is automatic (the knee reflex, for example); what sport trains is reaction: see, decide, respond. This test measures reaction and its control.

Why do I tap on red even though I know the rule?

Because green circles are more frequent and your hand gets used to tapping. That is exactly what the test measures: how well you stop a prepared movement.

What do I get in Arena?

The full Go/No-Go (40 trials in practice), levels 1 to 10, history and a leaderboard, plus the other tests. Included in PlanSports, 29 lei a month, first 7 days free.
