Reaction time test

Tap as fast as you can when the circle turns green. Five trials, and you get your median time in milliseconds.

Wait for green, then tap the circle (or press Space).

The in-page test is short and not saved. In Arena the test has more trials, levels 1 to 10, history and a leaderboard.

What the test measures

Simple reaction time: from the moment a visual signal appears to your response. The brain sees the colour, decides and sends the command to your finger.

The median matters, not your best time: one lucky tap says little. That is why Arena reports the median and how consistent you are from trial to trial.

Taps under 100 ms are anticipations, not reactions: you tapped before seeing the signal. Arena does not count them.

How to improve your reaction time

  • Sleep and rest: after a bad night your time goes up noticeably.
  • Warm up: the first trials are always slower.
  • Short, regular training: a few minutes a day, not an hour once a week.
  • Choice reaction and decisions under pressure, not just simple reaction: in sport you rarely get a single signal.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good reaction time?

To a visual signal, most adults are between 200 and 330 ms. Under 200 ms is very fast. Consistency matters too: a small spread between trials shows stable attention.

Why is my result different on phone and computer?

The screen and the device add a few milliseconds. Compare yourself on the same device; Arena checks the screen at the start of every session.
